Here's a little curiosity out of the lens drawer: a lens with no indication of who made it, and a lovely script legend indicating it's an Extra Rapid Aplanat. I always thought an RR/Aplanat was f/7.7, a Rapid Aplanat was faster, and, of course, an Extra Rapid Aplanat would be f/4 or something. Wadda I know. I do know that Rodenstock made an Extra Rapid Aplanat f/7.7, so I guess this isn't a case of vintage marketing hype.

The rest of the marked apertures are modern values: f/7.7, 11, 16, 22, 32, 64. The aperture ring turns smoothly.

Coverage? A No 2, I'm guessing, would maybe cover 4x5, but different manufacturers used different numbering systems. I popped it on the V8 'dorff and it lit up the entire 8x10 GG. I've never taken a photo with it, so I have no idea about sharpness and light falloff.

I'd say the glass is in decent shape, which is to say that it's got a century plus's worth of cleaning marks. No great scratches, chips, fungus, or other evils, but it's not pristine. If you wanna take pix that look like great-granddad's, this lens will deliver.

The lens comes with a mounting flange and is currently sitting on a Masonite 4x4 board. I'll throw in front and rear lenscaps to sweeten the deal

Offered at $65 + shipping. Paypal accepted. Satisfaction guaranteed.
