WOW!!! $220 for a Nikor. I found a pristine, in box tank and frame in a used camera store for $20.00 last fall.

You should sell it here for $220. What's your point?

The point would be that it really IS OK to not always get effing eBay inflated supply and demand pricing for things that can otherwise be had for a fair price.

The prices these tanks get is sickening, people don't deserve to always get screwed bud....

I don't think anyone is getting screwed. It's just supply vs demand.

With that mind set, You should offer the seller of "used camera A" probably 3-4 times what he is selling it at to keep things balanced.

As I've said before, if one is serious about this stuff to the point of actually being able to make use of one of these, $200+ for one in good condition is not too much to pay for a single, one-off lifetime purchase of the absolutely correct tool to do the job. If they were still being manufactured then that price might be crazy, but they are not.

Consider it an investment. I got mine 5+ years ago for $185. Keep this one in the family and maybe someday your great-grandchildren can go to college...

Maybe you found an ignorant seller and screwed him...

This was not an ignorant seller. Camera shop has been in business at least 20 years. Owner is trying to get rid of most of his darkroom supplies. Just in the right place at the right time.

$200 seems fair. Hell I have paid way more than that for other rare items that I use less (NOS vacuum tubes for example...)

Ok, so it wasn't you, but PKM-25, for whom I normally have a lot of respect. You got real lucky and exploited his situation.

If the price seems too high, then don't buy. No one is going to hold a gun to your head and force you to buy.

It's what these things go for. I once contacted Hewes and asked if they might consider bringing them back, but I doubt they could make new ones for what the old ones cost. Count those spot welds!

I just don't understand the purpose of these postings on someone's sales thread of a rare thrift store or closing photo store experience in a way that might cause consternation with the buyer and the seller. The buyer doesn't have a gun to his head. The seller sets his price and its an open market. It sells or it doesn't. So be it. Unless there's an error in the listing to be pointed out there is no reason to post something like: "OMG! Is this how much these are going for now?!? I got one at a thrift store for 10% of this price!". A rare one-off experience does not dictate average market price by any means or serve to add to a seller's thread.

Well if anyone is wondering... it is completely paid for and will most likely be dropped off at the post office tomorrow.

If I did not already have a nice Jobo set up for my 4x5 neg developing I would certainly have grabbed this.
