For Sale FS: Nikonos V with 35mm lens and Pelican case

I bought this camera about 8 year ago and used it very infrequently over the years. It was never used in salt water. It was only used in swimming pools. Everything looks and works well. No issues at all. It comes in a Pelican 905 case that is virtually new. The case alone is $50. There is plenty of room in the case for extra lenses and accessories. I'm asking $140 for the camera and case + Paypal fees + shipping at actual cost. PM for more details.

That's a good price. I have the same combo and it takes great photos on land as well as in the water. The Nikonos 35mm lens is excellent.

Apart from water photography, this camera would also be good for photographing in extreme environments, such as dust, humidity etc as they are very well sealed. My camera repair guy reckons it was the sturdiest camera Nikon ever made. It'd be a great camera for monsoon season in South East Asia, for example.

I totally agree. I took mine with me to Thailand in May. Its ruggedness paid for itself when I had an elephant decide to throw me into the river and then kick me in the chest. Got a few good photos out of it. I think these may be the most understated camera from Nikon. I also let my 4 year old cousin shoot a roll with it. He dropped it in the rocks a few times, but the camera was just fine and took some honestly good photos with it.

I'm interested. How are the seals on this? I looked for one a few months ago, then got turned off thinking it had to be serviced all the time... Are they okay for light use without an annual O ring service?

How do you define light use? Going diving with it, taking it to the pool, using in the rain?

If you are not diving with it I would at least replace the user serviceable o-rings and call it good. They are about $30 for the kit and you can change them at home. But for rain/rugged use you could get by with the ones already installed on the camera. If you are planning on diving from time to time then every 2-3 years seems good for service. The op says it had light use, so if you want to take it diving then it should be good. But I would highly recommend changing the user serviceable o-rings first. Thanks for the input Kav. Yes I've used it in swimming pools probably about a douzen times only. I did choose to use this over other cameras when I was trying to make some pictures during inclemant weather (snow storms, rain). It's a little tank for sure, and the first thing that surprised me about the camera was how good the 35mm lens was for above water photography. As Kav suggests, I would certainly change the o-rings for diving to anything approaching 160 feet. Actually, as I have not used it in years, I would change the o-rings regardless, although they do look just fine. By the way, B&H has a used one at 278.95!
