Better to run with Silverfast if you have an OS 10.6 or by using PC withParallel Desktop.

While I believe you to be an honest seller, $3100 is a lot to risk without protection of some sort.

guillaume is a good egg.
if i needed a scanmachine and i had
the $$ buying this from him would be a no-brainer.
( he's been here for 6 years and has been buying and selling
things, and posting work &c since the early days ... )

I have met Guillaume on several occasions and have found him to be a straight shooter. There are many here in the Toronto area who would corroborate my assertion.
