Selling my near mint condition Canon L-1 Leica Screw Mount Rangefinder with Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 Color Skopar M39 lens. This body is in perfect condition aside from the finish scuff mark (pictured) on the base plate. Rangefinder is accurately aligned and very bright at 35, 50, and RF (135) setting. Shutter speeds are accurate and range from 1 second to 1/1000th. Lens is like new; I bought it about a year ago new and I've taken excellent care of it.

From CameraQuest: "Like all but the very early Canons, it takes the standard Leica screw mount and falls into the generic Leica Copy group. The L-1 is basically a VT with lever advance instead of a bottom trigger advance, lever rewind instead of knob rewind, and no self timer. All Canon L-1's are relatively hard to find, since only slightly less than 8000 were made in 1957. The L-1 has beautifully clean aesthetic lines. A very large elegant rewind knob folds over into the top plate. The three position non-brightline non-parallax corrected finder is controlled by the serrated wheel near the rear eyepiece. The finder position is shown on the 35, 50, RF scale on the top plate. The RF increased magnification position roughly corresponds to a 135 lens. The L-1's gold coated rangefinder usually stands the test of time rather well, better than the silver coated rangefinder in the later Canon VI, VI-T, and P. It's a very pleasant camera to shoot."

(So you can use the 35mm finder on the top to compose and then close focus, if necessary, using the magnified RF setting on the rangefinder -- a very handy feature that you won't find in any SLR.)

Camera body was CLAed two years by Panorama Camera in Manhattan. Comes with the lower half of the clam shell case, a generic neck strap, rear and front caps for the Voigtlander lens, a 35mm parallax corrected shoe mounted viewfinder with its own leather case, and a B W 39mm yellow filter. (The finder is not a brightline.)

A beautiful collectible camera with a great lens that it is incredibly sharp, lightweight, and easy to use. Perfect for street photography -- it will fit nicely in a coat pocket (although I never carried it that way), and the great depth of field on this Voigtlander lens allows you to shoot hyperfocally on a day with a decent amount of sun. I've had tons of fun with it, but I believe cameras should be used, not sit on a shelf -- so I've decided to part with it.

Also includes a fresh roll of TMax 100 speed black and white film.

I will also include Priority shipping in the continental US.

Price dropped to $580! That includes shipping within the US, and the lens alone is worth at least $250.

I urge someone to buy this camera -- I've got an L1, and it is a lovely camera to use. I think this is a good price, too.

dachyagel, if no one steps up to buy the outfit -- and I hope someone does -- I'm interested in the viewfinder if you decide to sell it separately.

Here's one of the many images taken with this camera and this lens -- highly reduced in size but blown up to a 16x20 print:

Here's another one -- this is also using the same Voigtlander 35mm Skopar and TMax 100 -- on a hazy day with miserable sky conditions (reduced to 400 pixels here but scanned and printed as a 16x24" print) --

Extremely sharp at f11...which is why this lens still sells for $300 used at Adorama and B&H in NYC....

If I had not just bought a Bessa-R I'd be very interested. Good luck.

I'm not interested in selling the finder separately, but if there's someone who doesn't want the lens (for whatever reason), I'm willing to sell the body and the finder for $400 plus shipping.

PRICE DROP!

$550 + shipping -- this is the lowest I can go!

Well, if there is somebody who just wants the body, please contact me about the lens. I don't need the finder, but it would be a plus.

Can't sell the finder separately -- sorry.

I've had a couple of offers for this set, but it is still available.
