This is a well-used example of the classic Linhof Multifocal Viewfinder, showing fields-of-view for 4x5 with lenses ranging from 90-360mm. I bought this to see if it was worth using, before I spent more $ on a more recent version, and I did ultimately do that. It's been resting in a drawer, yearning to be free and back in the field.
If you've not used one of these, it gives you a preview of what the picture would like like from where you are standing, allowing you to see what it would look like with various lenses. It is great for walking around and previewing the shot without the trial and error process of having to set up and move the tripod, change lenses, etc. Find your composition with this, and then set up and fine tune. The front rotates from horizontal to vertical as well.
As the pictures show, this is not pristine by any stretch of the imagination, and the contrast of the projected field frame can be low when viewing against the light. But I found it is it generally more than adequate for the job. As you can see, this is very well-used, but still functional. It is priced accordingly, at $35 plus $5 shipping COUS. Money Order, personal check (must clear) or cash ok. Do not have paypal.
If you'd like to try this method without spending a fortune (the current model is $1,917 at Adorama, if you'd like new, but that does include free shipping: Dead Link Removed), this is your opportunity.
Please PM if interested.
