Is this for the first version Linhof Kardan 8x10 1953 - 1956 monorail that had the cardanic joints, push / pull knobs onto the ball socket - standards movements at the monorail ; or is this for the second version Kardan Color post 1956 with the brass track along the full length of the monorail that the Bakelite knobs rotated to extend move the standards along the brass track monorail length1960: Linhof Kardan - actually ended 1956..., Thanks, - Brad

Thank you, Kumar, A rare find! This is the second-generation version of the Linhof Kardan Color - Linhof ended the expensive and complex cardanic push / pull knuckle joints movements - Yaw-free Movements: tilts and swings pivot at the nodal point. The original cardanic system was innovative but costly to produce. Linhof later moved to more transparent, efficient locking standards, keeping the Kardan name but simplifying the mechanism - above the monorail on the standards themselves with brass track along the monorail to move the standards forward or backwards. I have several - one of the later Kardan Color 8x10 Triplex same as Dustyman.com/post, and two earlier Kardan 8x10 Triplex with the cardanic knuckle joints - one of which I will need to get a ground glass and if I find a Metal ground glass screen cover. I think the parts are not interchangeable between the Kardan Color, and the earlier Kardan., - Brad
