The Leitz "Directions for using" that came with my first real camera. The cover is battered and sticky-taped on the spine. All pages are complete and free of stains, marks etc. ID marks on inside back cover..."list photo No.8028/IX/49/DY. What's it worth ?

As soon as someone puts a number or name in a permanent way (marker, pen or engraving), the value of that item drops significantly. The exception would be if it's a notable person or entity.

The value of this owner's manual probably would be in single digits. That's my best guess.

If you ever sell the camera, it increases the value of the camera (not significantly), particularly if it's the same book that came with the camera. Even with writing in it. That's the world of collecting and of classic cameras.

Monetary value only. Emotional and functional value remain unchanged because they're not based on buying/selling cycles.

Thank you everybody for your comments. Regrettably, the camera was stolen in the '60's. The ID numbers are printed in the back cover, not added-in. It's here if someone wants to complete a set of something... $5 plus postage.
