I've collected this system over the past few years, but since I'm not shooting large format anymore, I don't need this much power. The benefits of Comet strobes are that they are modern and safe, lightweight for the amount of power, and still have reasonable recycling times. They even have auto dump! There isn't much info online, but Dynalite is the distributor of Comet in the US, and everything I own can still be repaired by them(good to know it's not a dead end!). Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. I'd like to sell the entire lot in one go - I'm located in Jacksonville, Fl if anyone is local and wants to check them out in person...

All heads are capable of 2400 w/s, so no need to have to think it out. The head extensions can be used together if need be.

Here is a list of what I have:

2 - CB-2400III Packs

2 - CL-1250 Packs

3 - CLX 25miniH heads

2 - CL 25H Heads

2 - Studio Heads

3 - Magnum Reflectors

4 - Standard/Umbrella reflectors

2 - wide reflectors

4 - Speed rings for soft boxes

2 - snoots

1 - Barndoors for wide reflector

grids for days!

I'm open to offers, but I've based the price on recent ebay sales(discounting for the entire package) - $2000 OBO for everything.

Dear C Davis,

I have heard good things about this lighting....
Contemplating your 1200 kit 2, whats the difference between a studio head and CL25 Head I assume
grid set would fit into reflector 7" 10" size?? If you have a separate photo of the 1200 pack/head I would appreciate it....

I am coming from old norman 500w/s gear so this would be step UP for me.....just never see much comet lighting out there....
I prefer this to monolights...Is the color temperature consistent, found the normans to run 6k (blue),,,,,,?.

Regards,

Harlequin

Dear C Davis,

Contemplating your 1200 kit 2.
What is the difference between studio head and CL25H head?
Do you have a photo of the 1200w pack and/or head?
Grids are what size 7" 11"? 20 degree or 30 degree"
Speedrings (Chimera or Photoflex or Comet)?

Upgrading from no name monolights and old norman 500w/s kit (very blue 6500k) for some reason.

Regards,

Harlequin

All sold earlier this year. Didn’t realize it wasn’t updated here.

To answer your question - the studio heads have fans built in and pig tails coming out the back so you use extensions to attach to a pack. The color temp was good shot to shot - maybe a little warm and magenta, but easy to correct with a plus green strip and ctb strip. I had profoto acutes before the comet, and those were off a bit, too.

I hope I covered all your q’s. I’m happy to answer any other ones. Basically, the comets were great for their size and weight, especially considering they have all the safety features of modern packs.

Hey cdavis23,

I realize now that you already sold these but I have a ton of questions about comet and dynalight in general ?

1. First are comets and dynalight 100% compatible ?
2. Will dynalight still do repairs on comets ?
3. Do you know anyone else with any comet gear they would be willing to sell ?
