FS: Korona 8x20 Panoramic View project camera - needs new bellows

Outfit includes:

8 x 20 camera
2 original (?) film holders
extension rail
extension rail supports
lensboard (already cut for some unknown lens)
case
HP5 film

I've decided I have too many camera projects that I'll never get around to, so I've decided to sell a few of them. This outfit is a somewhat rare 8x20 Korona Panoramic View. It is a project camera and needs some work to get it functioning, but it should not require too much to get it going again. It needs a new bellows. I have the original bellows and frames that I will include. You could use it for a pattern and make a new one or I suspect a new bellows would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $300-$400 from Custom Bellows, Ltd. in the UK. I have purchased other bellows from them and would strongly endorse them. (That estimate is just a guess. I'm basing the figure on the cost of a custom 2.5" - 52" extension bellows for an 11x14 camera that I purchased from them several years ago for $350.)

The only other camera issues I'm aware of are a small repair to the rear box in the corner which I've tried to picture in the linked photographs and a bit of what appears to be a white residue (old furniture polish?) where the bellows met the camera. Otherwise, I'd say the camera is in nice shape with very few surface blemishes for its age.

There are two film holders which I believe to be light-tight though they are untested and sold "as is." Three of the four darkslides need replacement or new handles. They are of the old cardboard type and I'd suggest having new garolite darkslides made for ease of use. (One of the holders is probably functional as is, but I'd replace the darkslides in any event.)

The outfit also contains the original extension rail as well as 3 extension rail supports , 2 of which are replicas and were purchased new a few years back from dagor77 on eBay for $75+ IIRC. The third is (probably) original to the camera.

There is also a lensboard with several screwholes and an opening cut for an unknown lens.

I also have a box of 8x20 Ilford HP5 ca. 2003 that I can't guarantee but will throw in the package. I think there are about 15 sheets left but whether they are OK or not is not known. The box was not refrigerated and was stored in a spare bedroom for several years.

The disintegrating case is shot and the lid has become separated, but it has done its job protecting the camera all these years.

There is also a used ground glass, original I think, that is not shown in the pictures. (I may also have a new acid-etched groundglass that I'll throw in if I can find it. I haven't seen it in a few years, so no promises on that. But I will look.)

So, the camera outfit is not perfect, but with a new bellows and darkslides (which I suspect could be manufactured for less than $100 in materials), it would be a very pretty outfit. (dagor77 recently had an auction for a heap of 8x20 holder parts that didn't even get a bid for $0.77 so he may be a cheap source for the darkslides as well as other spare holder parts.) Original holders for these cameras are difficult to find, and new ones cost $375-$400 each from S&S, $440 each from Lotus, $490 each from AWB (2006 price at filmholders.com) to $480 (plus $85 shipping) each from Chamonix.

I'm asking $1,250 USD for the lot plus actual insured shipping. I'd prefer USPS money orders for payment although I will take a personal or business check from individuals I know. A cleared bank wire transfer will also work for overseas purchasers. No Paypal, sorry.

I'd also consider trading for a modern (or period) whole-plate wetplate camera outfit.

More images can be found in my Tumblr archive.

I have this outfit listed elsewhere so if interested, please email me at smieglitz@gmail.com rather than by PM so I can keep track of the order of contact by those interested in the camera. Thanks.

I'll also be putting up some ads for lenses including some choice Petzvals in the next few days so keep an eye out for those ads as well.
