Well, I got more curious on this "digital" designation. And I found 3 different Heliopan filters (colourless, the above red one and an IR-pass one) with this designation on the ring. However, at one this designation is contrary to the others. Seemingly Heliopan used this designation with contrary meanings in mind.

Which is most confusing and makes my statement above questionable.

More and more filters are "designated" digital these days for obvious reasons, they sell to digi shooters better. I've seen no evidence there is a practical difference to using any of them for film with same expected effect. Not much different from current crop of lenses, "optimized" to latest sensors etc.

Yes, but I got confused as Heliopan made at least one filter designated this way, in broshures and on the filterring, that indeed got a peculiar, bandpass, curve, in contrast to its counterparts of same function.

I myself never came across any Heliopan filter designated as digital, and I got a heap of filters, which was another reason to get puzzled.

Thank you for hinting at the generic use of this designation.

I sort of assumed that it was just some marketing to do with the thinner style of mounting ring rather than the filter glass itself but I could be wrong.

The 25 red is a good filter to have on hand, from Panchromatic films, IR, and "night time" scenes when paired with a suitable polarizer.

The size is unusual but, "...If it makes you happy..."
