Heiland Split-Grade Paper Gradation Enlarging System
Ive used this setup in my home darkroom (no commercial use) and I love it, but Im moving to a smaller house in Arizona, so my darkroom days are over.
The Heiland SPLITGRADE saves time, frustration, and materials by automating the non-artistic parts of the variable contrast printing process.
The SPLITGRADE will make a classicly correct print the first time every time, and can be adjusted from there to suit the photographers personal interpretation.
The system consists of an electronic controller (computer), a probe, a motorized filter module, and a foot switch, all electronically connected. NOTE: the filter module is for a Saunders LPL4500 enlarger, replacing the normal diffusion module (should work with Omega, but not sure). Others are available from the manufacturer. SPLITGRADE is an electronic system intended to control the contrast range of variable-contrast papers during the enlarging process. Evaluation and composition take place under white light. The image is then exposed in two steps, first through the Yellow Filter and then through the Magenta filter (or vice versa) greatly improving the reproduction of the different tonal values. Paper and film gradation libraries are easily updated via internet download. As this printing system greatly improves printing efficiency, saving time and chemistry, every photographer will have much more time for creative printing.

Exposure Control: Built-in exposure timer and light shutter for instant on/off.

Gradation Tables: Factory adjusted for 29 papers and 6 films.
