The lens is in bargain condition as it has the following:
1) fine thin scratch on the front element that does not affect the image
2) fungus has developed on the rear element (about 1/2 centimer diameter - like a tree)
3) paint is showing wear and tear
If I wanted to keep the lens I would send it for a clean-up but I am keeping only a two lens set for my 500.

This lens is worth sending for a clean-up. They sell at around $700+ on KEH and eBay.

I am selling this one at $400 shipped in NA - OBO - to discount the cost of a clean-up/CLA which rans $195 with David Odess.

Cheers,

Luc

Depends on how long it has been there. It can be removed safely, if it is caught early enough, but over a period of years it can damage the coating and etch the glass.

I am no expert and it is the first time I have fungus on a lens. It was not there in any visible way six months ago which was the last time I use the lens (one of the reason I am trying to reduce the quantity of equipment).
