For Sale FS: Fuji GW690II Rangefinder Camera

For sale is a Fuji GW690II rangefinder camera in excellent operating condition. The camera was CLA'd last week and everything works perfectly. The lens is free of any haze, fungus or other defects. There are a few cosmetic scuffs and marks on the body. The exposure counter reads 259, which means only 2,590 exposures have gone through this camera.

Actually, 259 means 2590 exposures.

The counter is exposures x 10. The GW690III has this marked next to the counter; apparently the GW690II does not have the marking.

This seems to have had the, sometimes annoying, but still nice to have built-in lens hood removed?

I have used this very same camera model for seems like over 20 years. Amazing camera, parallax corrected viewfinder, great rangefinder. I didn't really know why I wanted one, I bought it used, like a Virgin, from B&H for 700 bucks. I use these (I have a 65mm and 90mm type III as well) for over half my black and white work. I have the stretch limo version of this same camera Fujica G617 105mm SWD lens, you can't have more fun. The 6x9 negative is sweet.
6x9 Fujichrome and Ektar is amazing. Optical 11 x 14 color negative prints are awesome.

Noticed that as well. Yeah, the hood is annoying when changing shutter speed and aperture unless you have fingers like a spider monkey.

I am in the same boat wanting one for a long time but can't really justify it. I have a 500 C/M that I use occasionally and a Kodak Medalist II that I rarely use.

I use more my Medalist II than my 500 C/M, if I wouldn’t have the Medalist II I would buy any of these Fuji’s and if it comes from Kumar I wouldn’t hesitate.

How difficult is focusing for 68 year old eyes?

The rangefinder patch is small but has enough contrast even for dull, hazy days or indoors. It also helps that the viewfinder is quite large.

I am 62.5. No problems at all. The eyepiece is threaded to accept Nikon diopters and rubber cushion. I wear glasses no problem.

Had one of these, sold it, still regret it. Ridiculous high resolution and x-tra large negs are one hell of a combination. If anyone is interested I could provide a drum scan sample when I am back from vacation next week.

I will buy one again sometime, maybe sooner if my current attempts at 4x5 keep on not working out the way I thought they would.

Btw, I would buy the 690 from Kumar. Best way I know to get things from Japan.
