I built this up years back for use with my Contax G2. I added an accessory shoe to the top of the so a flash can be used held on top of the unit and removed to held at arms length when desired. When you are done, you can just slide it back on the camera instead of having to carry the flash seperatly. It was a great little in-between solution if you know what I mean.
In addition, I opened up the part that slides into the hot shoe and reinforced it with epoxy to ensure it would be strong enough to support the additional weight of a flash. I used this for years, mostly with a TLA-20, TLA-30, Rollei Beta 4 (which was my favorite with the G2) and as large as a Vivitar 283 with great success.
Haven’t used it for many years since I (mistakenly) sold off my G2 system, so its time to find a new home.
