Custom built 6x9 wide camera with a Schneider 47mm f/8 Super Angulon lens. The lens is mounted in an indexed focusing mount (for zone focusing) and has a removable Voigtlander 21mm viewfinder. This is the fourth 6x9 conversion that I have made but first one that isn’t solid black or all silver.
The 6x9 frame is the same 3:2 ratio as a 35mm camera and the wide angle 47mm Schneider lens gives you the same angle of view that a 21mm lens does on 35mm. It makes for a fantastic medium format wide camera that mimics the look and feel of the classic 21mm/Leica combo only with a negative that is four times larger! The camera uses 120 film which gives you 8 frames per roll.
At 750 grams, it weighs less than a professional 35mm or professional digital camera. Similar 6x9 wide angle film cameras include the Brooks Veriwide or Graflex XLSW which are both substantially larger and not as well suited for travel as this conversion. This conversion is truly designed to be conveniently shot by itself or how I generally use mine, alongside a modern digital system while traveling.
Below are a couple a test frames from this year's US Open and a couple shots of the Unisphere in New York.
The camera is $1059, net, plus shipping.
