OK, this has been sitting in the drawer long enough; let's see if it can be of any use to someone else.
First off, a note to newbies: this is a Copal 3S, not a Copal 3. The 3S model preceded the 3. The difference is in the lens mount opening. The 3S has a 56mm opening, while the 3 has a larger 58mm opening. Read the
SKGrimes page and learn.
This shutter is in great shape. I tested the speeds and they're all quite consistent. Some are spot on, some are maybe 10-12% slow. I'll include the test results with the shutter.
The shutter comes with a mounting flange, which is currently attached to a nice condition mahogany Deardorff lensboard. Stick a lens in it and you're ready to shoot.
It's tough to price these things, as they don't sell very often. I see Kerry Thalmann sold a mint one last year for $350. This one acts like it's new. Too bad I don't have a box for it.
Let's start off at $300 + shipping for the package. I'm valuing the shutter at $250, and the flange and board at $25 each. If you're still poor after Christmas, you can hope nobody steps up for this package, as I will drop the price after a day or two. Just don't wait and miss out, though.
If you're just interested in the shutter alone, that's OK; $250 + shipping takes it and I'll keep the flange and board.
