For Sale FS: Compact and affordable 6x12 travel camera

I'm an avid camera builder making 4x5 and 6x12 cameras for sale but this particular 6x12 camera was my personal camera. It is nowhere near as polished as the cameras that I build to sell, what it lacks in looks it makes up for in function. The camera was built by cutting two Zeiss Ikonta 515/16's in half and joining them together. The camera uses a permanently mounted Zeiss/Contax 21mm finder that has had its accessory shoe shortened to lower the entire profile of camera. 120 film loads quickly and easily without spindle adapters which makes it faster load in the field. I’m leaving the endless rings on the camera if you want to add a neck strap letting the camera hang upside down over your shoulder.

The camera has a permanently mounted Arca Swiss plate on the bottom which also has a 1/4 20 tripod mount towards the front if you don’t use Arca Swiss release plates.

The 65mm f/8 Fujinon is in terrific condition with a solid Seiko shutter and the metal lens hood installed.

Where / how does the film advance?

Hey Steve and Mfohl,
This one has been sold but I’m working on several 6x12 conversions at the moment. Two will use black, second generation (but still single coated) 65mm f/8 Super Angulons. A third body will have a 65mm f/4 Nikkor but this camera has been spoken for.

Mfohl, there is a folding advance knob on the bottom right of the the camera. It’s quite comfortable being on the bottom rather than on top. You can see the advance on some of my other similar conversions here on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dirkfletcher/albums

beautiful cameras, Dirk!. Just noticed you've built a land camera conversion which is similar to a project called Rhodium I've been doing with help from the creator named Oscar. Except that I'm stuck at the range finder arm extension. Are you willing to share what you used for that? Or I'd be interested if you ever sell or take commission building one for me with my beat up 135mm planar.

Oscar is the man! He actually sent me some 3D files to calibrate the 125mm Fujinon to the Polaroid 250 finder. He was unsure which was the proper slope so he sent me a bunch which I had printed and did a bit of trial and error till I found one that nailed the focus from 8-10 ish feet to infinity. Are you just needing some help on physically getting the finder to connect once it’s moved up a tad to make the camera fill frame? Every time I look at my camera I’m horrified at the shape I ended up making for it, I feel like it could have been shaped much better instead of the eyesore it turned out to be, lol.

iIf this what you are wondering about it is just some sheet aluminum that I cut into that shape, bolted in place and once I knew it was working properly I usually cover the hardware with a metal epoxy. I can shoot some quick phone pics of the other side tomorrow if that’s what you are interested in.

Very solid, I try to always shoot the f/8 Super Angulon at f/16 1/2, it is tack sharp, edges look good and fall off is just perfect enough to add to the image.
