For Sale FS: Canon EF body only

For sale is a Canon EF film body in great condition. Meter works and checks out against my Minolta XD11 and handheld meter. Batteries included along with a couple metal springs that allow the use of regular button cells in place of 625's. Super clean film compartment - no signs of use here or on the pressure plate, really. No brassing anywhere on the body. I'd call this KEH EX - see photos. Gorgeous camera, and if I had the money and time I'd put together a collection of FD lenses and keep it... but you know how it goes.

I miss my EF. It's a great camera! If I still had my FD lenses I'd take this right away.

Camera arrived yesterday, 18th Jan, in beautiful condition. It certainly appears to be a very 'low-mileage' example of the breed. I'll get a light CLA done on it including seals and then away we go.
Thanks also for the roll of Arista Premium you included. I haven't shot any Plus-X in about 30 years and this is probably my last chance. Not quite as poignant as the end of Kodachrome but the end of an era nevertheless.

I have nearly all the Canon FD models with the exception of the AE1 the EF is probably my favourite, the hybrid Copal Square Platinum shutter with speeds from 1/1000 to 30 seconds and Silicon cell light meter are superb and the build quality the same as the F1. What a great deal, IMO this is the jewel in the crown of the FD system .

Definitely the best FD Canon body in my opinion. There's basically nothing it doesn't do.

I'm well pleased with this camera. Apart from soft seals there is nothing to indicate that this machine needs servicing. It's a preventative maintenance thing. If I don't do it now there may be even fewer people out there who could work on it in, say, 5 years time. Do it now and it should be good for ages.

Apart from all the Canon EF features mentioned by others I can't think of any SLR that allows you to load the film and wind on to the first frame without pressing the shutter between wind-on's. I like it.

Like Benji I am an FD afficionado and I'm not quite sure what my shooting preferences will be. Possibly it will be EF or F1N followed by T90 then AE-1 and A1. (I don't really need the motorised advance of the T90 these days although the spot metering and TTL flash are amongst it's stand out features. It's also a noisy bugger which can be distracting).

My Canon GAS attack is nearly over and I will patiently wait for a nice FTB/n. Then there's always the attraction of a few more fast FD primes but no great hurry.

I have a mint FTbn that I've had for thirty five years that I've put into honourable retirement because although it's in good working order because of the Mercury battery availability problem I bought an EF to replace it rather than spend the money to get it CLA'd because the EF has a self regulating battery circuit that will happily work correctly with PX625A Alkaline ones or the Silver 0xide equivalents, and I had the EF CLA'd instead and I prefer the EF now.

I had an EF as well as an F1-N and loved using them both - especially with the 20-35/f3.5 L. I traded all my FL/FD gear a while back as I needed to raise some money for some MF gear and this advertisement has made me realise what I lovely camera I no longer have....

They'll have to prise my "Black Beauty" out of my cold dead hands Paul, to me it's the best combination of electronic and mechanical technology in a camera ever.

If you ever need it repaired, Ken Oikawa in California comes highly recommended, and he did an excellent job for me as well.

Thanks Holmburgers, I've read on various photographic forums that Mr Oikowa has a very good reputation as a repairer, I had my EF given a full service last year by a technician at my local professional dealer who also did an excellent job, and even managed to find for me some of the original light trap material that Canon used for the light seals, it's hard to believe it's thirty seven years old because it looks and works like new now.
