This filter cuts the UV and Infrared parts of the spectrum from exposing the film. I have used it in doing color transparency of art work. It is mostly used with digital cameras where the sensors are more sensitive to these invisible parts of the spectrum.

Thanks for the reply. I have a special use case (already have one) for an IR converted camera. Since my converted D camera has no IR or UV filter, this filter restores the functionality more or less to normal. I was curious what use it might have in the analog world.

I photographed blue flossflower years ago with a film camera. While it looks blue, it photographs pink. I studied up and read that an infra red cutoff filter will make it photograph as blue. I suspect this is the filter that would bring the image back to what the human eye sees.

I am looking at getting a digital camera converted to be full spectrum. Since the IR filter would be removed, would this be the filter that I would require to shoot normal colour?
