I'm selling this very desirable 200mm f/4D Micro Lens.

The 200mm f/4D is arguably one of the best Micro lenses Nikon has ever made. It offers continuous focus from infinity to 1:1 without any adapters, and the 200mm focal length gives a lot of working distance. It's an internal focus lens, so does not get physically shorter or longer when focusing.

This era of Nikon lens is one of the most adaptable lenses made. As it sits, it offers full coupled metering on everything from the F2A/FM/FE/Nikkormat FT3/Nikon EL2 and newer, plus will mount and work with stop down metering(or coupled metering if you add a metering prong to the focus ring-the divits are there to guide you) on everything back to the F. The only cameras it does not meter on are some recent low end DSLRs(some D3000 and D5000 series), but will meter on Z mount cameras via the FTZ adapter. It will autofocus on all Nikon AF film SLRs, as well as DSLRs that have an in-body focus motor(all full frame DSLRs, all single and 3 digit crop sensor models, the D7000 series, and the D50, 70, 80, and 90).

This lens still gets rave reviews for its image quality even in 2024, and manual focus has a wonderful feel. It takes 52mm filters, just like most "classic" manual focus lenses.

I'm selling this one mostly because 200mm is just too long for most of my uses with a macro lens.

This example comes with the correct screw in hood(threads are a little strange and it's sometimes reluctant to screw on), a Nikon branded rear lens cap, a newer "pinch style" 52mm front cap(I can include an era-appropriate cap if the buyer would prefer), and the cylindrrical leatherette carry case. I bought this lens from KEH in "EX" condition, and it still shows it. The only thing I can really complain about are some tiny paint rubs around the filter ring. Optics, needless to say, are nearly flawless-there's no fugus, scratches, or other major issues-just some internal dust(basically unavoidable with a lens like this that's been used at all given the amount of internal movement in focusing).

Based on some recent Ebay sales, I'm going to price this one at $600 inc. US Shipping. This is based on a worse condition US based one selling for this, and similar condition one from Japan case or hood. I'm open to reasonable offers.

EDIT: Added two photos, additional ones in this gallery. If there's a specific view you'd like, feel free to ask, and I will also add photos of the case later today

Will get some up this evening-unfortunately the layout here makes posting pictures not so easy, but will gladly post to an external gallery(and a few low-res in the post)
