The very last item I have for sale is the one I'm most reluctant to part with; this is the sweetest plum in the lens drawer (until some newer lenses arrive later on).
For sale, a B&L Zeiss Protar convertible lens.
Front element is 16,25", rear is 23,25" giving you a FL of almost 11" when put in normal configuration.

Here's what it can do:

Sharp and creamy smooth; not bad for an uncoated lens.

The amazing thing about this lens is that each element can be removed, flipped over and used in the front or back, alone or in tandem.
This gives you 12 focal lengths that I know of.

I lost my original sheet, but I know there is everything from 200mm up to around 700mm, and all of them cover 8x10.

The lens cap is home-made, and I've included my fave FLs inside the cap, instructions on how to orient the lenses to get various FLs.
The barrel has my F-stop calculations for those most-used FLs.

The rear element was unusable when I got this lens, and I had Roger at Camtech in Hamilton, Ontario re-cement it.
The front element is yellowing and shows signs of separation, but has many years left in it before anything needs to be done.
The front element is quite sharp when used alone, unlike many convertibles.

I also have a custom-made flange that the lens simply screws into; the flange can be easily mounted on a Technika board, or any board you wish.
Just make the hole large enough, add some screws and you're done.

An added bonus of this lens is that it screws directly into an Ilex 5 shutter, no mechanical vignetting either.
For this, I include a spacer, since the lens screws into the shutter about 2/3 of the way in.

Price for this awesomeness?
$900 which includes shipping to Canada and USA, and includes Paypal fees.
I'm happy to entertain reasonable offers, but I'm reluctant to sell this brass beauty.

Thanks

The B+L docs show 3 focal lengths, which is typical of this lens design. The switching of the fronts and the backs of the elements really doesn't provide different focal lengths, but may degrade performance.

That being said--these are excellent triple convertables

I haven't noticed any image degradation at any of the FLs, except if it happened through my own carelessness.
You're right about these being of excellent quality, the switching of the lens cell orientation is just a bonus.

This lens is now SOLD, thank you.
