Here's a wonderful lens that gets no repect. Read this thread, particularly Lynn Jones's mention that these lenses were made to be better than the Kodak Commercial Ektars that they replaced. The 6.3 Caltars were made to have a larger image circle than the 4.5 tessars. That thread has a poster stating that he uses the lens on a 8x10, but with zero movements. The lens should cover any smaller format. I've never used the lens, however, so can't talk from experience.
The glass is coated and in very good condition - no scratches or anything. Frankly, I can't even see any cleaning marks. The only problem here is the Ilex No 3 Acme Synchro shutter; it needs a CLA. The shutter leaves have a tendency to open very slightly after the shutter is cocked. You might well be able to take pinhole photos with the shutter. The leaves don't pop back open every time, but you just can't trust it. The B and T settings are also unreliable.
