I found myself shooting more with my medium format system these days so I would like to trim down my Leica gears significantly.

I spoke with a Leica dealer yesterday. I was informed that most of the Leica M lenses are back ordered at least 6 months, and in some cases at least a year or more. Moreover, given the demand and the exchange rate, there is no sign of such Leica lenses decreasing in value any time soon. No doubt such demand is partially due to the realization that not only are the Leica lenses that good, but that many of the newer "RF digital cameras" other than the M9 ( e.g., the Nex-7, etc. ) will have adaptors that allow one to use Leica lenses. Consequently, M users not desiring to spend thousands on the M9 for their digital needs, will be able to take their M lenses into the field without film using cameras that cost 1/3 as much as the M9...or even less....with little degradation in image quality! Not that I am advocating such, but simply commenting. It may be that the R lenses can also be used on some of the Canon and perhaps other SLR digital cameras. So, the value of the R lenses might also increase dramatically.

With the limited supply of Leica items, their prestigious brand and the number of people getting richer around the globe, it's not hard to see why the prices keep going up. Some people want to wait until the prices drop back down, but there are certain things that will never happen again because the world has changed.
