Here's a really beautiful example of the 360mm/500mm Nikkor-T combo. This system uses a single front cell and interchangeable rear cells to obtain different focal lengths, and it has the reputation of being about the sharpest telephoto ever made thanks to Nikon's use of ED glass.
This set has extremely clear and clean glass with a very few minor scuffs on the lens barrels. This is the late version with three aperture scales on the Copal 1 shutter - the third is for the 720mm rear cell, which is slightly more common than hens' teeth. The shutter speeds sound appropriate. Included are all caps, the retaining ring, and the original boxes; the caps are marked for focal length. The boxes are a little shelf-worn, but include the original foam inserts, and all serial numbers match.
When configured as a 360mm the flange focal length is 261mm, and 349.9mm with the 500mm rear cell. Nikon claims both configurations have a 210mm image circle at f/22, so it covers 5x7 with (very) minimal movements. Rumors on the internet claim coverage for the 500 (and 720) is greater than Nikon states, with the 720 (if you can find one) allegedly covering close to 8x10. The 360mm configuration weighs 800gm and the 500 setup is a mere 760gm.
For now I'm not interested in selling the 500 rear cell alone; I'd like to sell them all together, or sell the complete 500 alone and the 360 rear cell alone. Asking prices are $675 for the 500mm setup on its own, $375 for the 360mm rear cell on its own, or $1000 for the whole group. Prices include insured shipping in the US. If you want to use PayPal, we'll split the cost. It will cost more to ship outside the US.
Send me an email if you want bigger pictures. These are all of the 500, the 360 cell and boxes are in the next post.
