I have these lenses up on eBay with a starting bid of $249. I would be much happier selling them to someone here. Price to you "locals": $249 + shipping. No need to fight the eBayers. Satisfaction guaranteed, of course.

Also included are two barrels into which the unused cells may be screwed while one set is in the shutter. The barrels have the correct threads for the cells, but not the correct spacing.

Here's the eBay text:

Included in this auction are three rare Yamasaki Commercial Congo lenses in focal lengths of 180mm, 210mm and 250mm, all apparently multicoated. Also included is a fully functional Copal 3S shutter, into which all of the lenses fit. Although marked "Copal - NO 3", the cell openings in the shutter are 56mm, making it a Copal 3S. The shutter is mounted onto a cheap rounded-corner 6x6 board, which fits my V8 Deardorff.

All of the lenses show some cleaning marks; the 180mm in particular. There are no significant chips, scratches or fungus on any of the lenses, but the front cell of the 180mm has a lot of pitting in the coating, and its' rear cell shows some haze around the perimeter of the lens. While far from mint, all of the lenses are capable of producing excellent photos.

I have included photos below, taken with each of the lenses while mounted in this Copal 3S. The uncropped ones are scanned 8x10 negatives, to show you the potential coverage. Next to the 8x10s are 5x7 crops of the 8x10s. As you can see, the 180mm has some darkening of the corners at 5x7, while the 210mm covers 5x7 well. The 250mm covers 8x10 nicely. I have shot 8x10 color negatives with the 250mm and have been pleased with the results.

While it is possible to "mix-and-match" cells from the lenses, e.g., front 250mm with rear 180mm, the cells DO NOT function as a casket set. All combinations of cells will produce images, some sharper than others, but with vignetting.

Domestic shipping will be via USPS Large Flat Rate Box, insured. To meet eBay's requirements, international shipping, must be by USPS Express Mail International, insured, and must be to a Paypal Confirmed Address. International buyers will be responsible for any applicable customs duties or fees.

Here are the photos of the lenses and shutter. Subsequent posts will have the negative scans.

I've checked the speeds of the shutter, and, as might be expected, the two higher shutter speeds are roughly half of the listed speed. The mid range speeds are very slightly slower than listed. The 1/2 sec speed shows 1/2.4 sec, but the 1 sec speed is spot on. B & T work perfectly.

Here's the list:

1/125 = 1/50
1/60 = 1/35
1/30 = 1/24
1/15 = 1/15-
1/8 = 1/8-
1/4 = 1/5
1/2 = 1/2.5
1 = 1

I'm sure there's a buyer lurking out there somewhere.

Grab these lenses at a reduced price of $225 + shipping before they disappear.

I think the classifieds are intended for direct sales here, not promoting auctions for oneself that are being elsewhere. Good luck with the auctions.

Chris & Suzanne:

This was a direct, fixed price sales offer. I happened to mention the eBay auction out of a desire for "full disclosure". I was offering APUG buyers an opportunity to buy the lenses at a fixed price, no matter what the auction price might have risen to.

I would never include a link, as I understand that to be prohibited.

Whoa - add a link to eBay??? Are you sure that's kosher? Does the thought of that make anyone else gag?

Jon

What Christopher said, we'd like folks to try to sell items directly here on APUG, but if they fail to sell, then you can add a link to an e-bay auction listing.

Generally the practice around here has been to offer it here and possibly other forums first, and if after some reasonable interval it doesn't sell, then it's ok to put it on eBay and add a link or the item number as a comment to the thread. At that point, it doesn't really matter whether it is a link or an item number or just a statement that it's been moved to eBay.
