For Sale: 12" Wollensak Velostigmat Series II mounted in a Betax 5 shutter. Yes, it even includes the mounting flange. While this lens has several cleaning scratches, they are all light -- no gouges or anything that will have a negative effect on your photos. There are some bubbles in the glass, but back then that was a sign of quality optics. This lens is what one should expect from a 100 year old lens, except this one works! I recommend a few dry fires before the exposure. Without these few "warm ups", the shutter blades are delayed in their closing on the slower speeds. T&B work as they should. Faster speeds (1/10-1/50) all sound different, but I have no way to check for accuracy. 1/2 sounds/looks about right, and the rest get faster from there.
This lens also has the desirable diffusion adjustment from 0 to 5. It does not appear that this lens has been modified for continuous turning past 5. I didn't bother with this because my 15.5" Velostigmat already has it. It allows 17 full rotations before the lens comes out of the barrel. I have no idea how many rotations this would allow if modified.
These lenses regularly go for ~$700 on Ebay. I'll put this one on the block for
$550 (net to me) shipped anywhere in the US. Anywhere else, add $50.
Payment can be made in the form of postal money order, cashiers check drawn on a US bank, wire transfer, Western Union, Paypal (gift or you pay the fees). Canadians, I can empathize with your frustration. If you want to buy this now, I'll hold it and ship once your postal strike has been put to rest.
