Hi All,

I have an opportunity to buy Kodak Polymax II RC 8"x10" paper at a great deal (works around $0.10 CDN per sheet). However, it's been frozen since 2001 and I understand that Polymax doesn't keep very well. Anyone has any experiences to share on the keeping properties of Kodak Polymax II RC paper?

Kodak Polymax II RC paper didn't amount to much anyway so you have nothing to lose imo.

I'm going to presume that there isn't much experience here Polymax II RC with regards to longevity. Maybe I'll take a chance and see what happens.

i regularly use the same vintage polymax rc paper, but mine was never frozen.
i just shelf-store it in my studio and darkroom. i still use it all the time for paper negatives
long exposed retina prints, as well as contact prints with dense film and a bright light.

before you commit to buying the paper, if you are worried about it, why don't you ask for a
sheet or 2 and do a test print/s?

have fun!

Some ten years ago I bought a carton of Polymax fiber paper at a clearance sale in a major photo shop. I don't know how old the paper was but it looked as if it wasn't more than a few years old. It turned out to be completely worthless. The mottling was far worse than Gorge Nova Scotia shows. I gave the paper away to a friend who works a lot with lith printing and obviously it suited him fine.

Thanks for your input everyone. I'll take your experiences to heart.

I took a long shot on a very old box of this polymax, (that was not kept frozen) . it turned out to be pretty much useless for normal printing. extremely badly fogged.

I have some of the fiber. Came to me in a sealed box but don't know it's history. Too foggy for straight printing but great for Lith.
