Here in Ohio we have had one of the mildest winters I remember. And so we have been waiting to see the classic snow and ice we usually have in winter to do another Frozen Film Shoot at Hocking Hills, no such luck.

So as not to miss the entire winter without an outing in Hocking Hills, Sue and I are heading to Hocking Hills State Park from Friday the 23 to Sunday the 25th of March. We booked a state park cabin and will hike the area, do some photography, bird watching, and probably cleaning a bunch of mud off our boots.

You all are invited to come and enjoy the area. If you have time, please file for special access to join us at SaltPetre Caves. It is out of the way, you need a special permit to go there and there is never anyone there so the caves, rock formations and the waterfall are rarely seen or photographed. You will find the permit information here: Dead Link Removed

BTW (bragging rights time) the entire back cover of the 2012 Hocking Hills Visitor Guide is one of my photographs of my grandson Ravyn. Order a fee copy for more information about the Hocking Hills area. I’ll even autograph it for you if you wish. Order yours today: http://hockinghills.com/order_guides.html

Lets get out and enjoy Hocking Hills.

Lee: my calendar does not stretch all the way into the 22nd century, so I don't know if I am free that weekend...

Dan,
HA, I get it now. Not to worry, Dec 21 2012 is the end of the world anyway so no APUG outings will take place after that. I better start using up the film I have frozen in the freezer now, hate to be stuck with left overs on Dec 22 this year.

Lee: I think you are on to something: a call to APUGGERS around the world to make their best picture on the last day of life.

I wonder if that will be like the cascading failure of technology that Y2K was supposed to be: the Aussies will go first, then working its way around the world. Hope so, gives us Yanks about 20 hours to have the best damn party ever. And no worries about the next day hangover!

Dan,
We must mobilize a vast movement to preserve the last images of humanity before the end of the world. That idea you got about the best damn party ever sounds like a real winner too.

Maybe we can all hitch a ride on the space ship behind the comet and be saved. Oh wait that was tried before and I have no desire to neuter myself (ouch) in preparation for boarding the space ship. I can see why they committed suicide; I’d blow my brains out if I willingly lopped off my Mr. Happy. (How in the hell did I get so off topic here)

Anyway, hopefully you and others will join us at Hocking Hills. This Year.
