Frozen Film Shoot for Jan or Feb 2015

Would there be any interest in an outside expedition photographing the beauty of winter and freezing your film off.

16-18 Jan or 13-15 Feb. Location TBD.

Jan outing would probably be up near Cleveland. Feb outing may be in Hocking Hills State Park. Locations will be firmed up depending upon responses.

I'm excited to see everyone up in Cleveland in January. Looking forward to doing some walking in the cold and gathering a few great images, stopping in unique venues for warm conversations and food. Can hardly wait.

Is this when you might be going to John Briant park? Ever been to Clifton Gourge next the park? That might be fun. I got there once when it was very iced over, could only navigate the rim, the bottom by the river is much more amazing.

I believe the Cleveland Zoo is open during the winter. They have a new carousel, though that may be closed. The animals on the carousel are allegedly hand-carved. It may be worth a few pictures.

Greetings All.

The Feb trip to Hocking Hills has morphed a bit, a birthday celebratrion, I am turning 60. Our plans are to head to Hocking Hills State Park on Saturnday morning 21 Feb. Spend the day at the park, walking about and taking photographs. My wife Sue (the best birder in world) and I are joined by my son and his family and my daugther and her family.

Sites to visit will be defined as we get closer to the date. Weather and expecially ICE have a lot to do with where one can safely go. Ice formations on waterfalls are impressive and will be the highlights of the hikes.

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn in Logan Ohio for Saturday night. Dinner is at the Amish all you can eat place next door. Some great food there and a fine place to spend time.

Sunday breakfast in the hotel is free and then off to hike again for a while before departing home.

I'm getting excited. Good Boots, warm clothes and certainly best practices with shooting cameras in the cold weather. Wind slow, keep the camera cold once it gets cold, use a seperate one if you go inside. Will probably bring a pair of Leicas with 21mm 35mm and a 50mm. Or the 12mm, 28mm and the 50mm.

Doubt I will bring the 4x5, but if I do I have the idea of buying an O2 mask and rigging a tube on it to keep my breath from fogging the ground glass under the cloth. Hate that when that happens.

Hope to get to the Visitor's center at 0900.

Cell service is getting better there but spotty in them there hills. 937 two niner 4 three 11 seven.

We are going to cancel today and find a safer time to go. Since the snow will change to freezing rain there today about 11 AM is become to insane to drive or hike.

Lets see if we can find a safer weekend.
