Frozen E-6 Question!!!

I just recieved a Kodak E-6 5l one shot kit from Adorama.
The normal leakage was there, but what I need to know is this: the brown glass bottle of color developer, step 3b,
has about a 2x3 inch piece of frozen chem in it.
The glass didn't break, which tells me the whole thing was never frozen. Will this affect my processing results?

Dave, I had the same problem with the First Developer. A great big cubic crystal formed.

They told me to gently warm the bottle to get it back into solution and then mix it normally, and that it would cause no problems. I have not used it yet so I cannot answer your question.

I suggest you run a test first. In my experience in the past, if you can get it back into solution, and if it is not severly discolored, then it will work, but I won't take a chance with good stuff without a test.

Was your's crystallization or frozen?
Mine's definitely frozen!
I'll run a test batch using the experiments with my "new" 60 year old mini crown graphic!

Dave;

You cannot tell if it was freezing which caused crystallization or if it was just the normal thing, unless you call Kodak. They know more about the differences in crystal formation. It might have been chilled just enough to crystallize, not freeze. I suspect that is the case here as the bottle did not break.

Recently, I got 2 color paper kits with bad part "B". I called the 800 # and told them and gave them the kit #. They saw I was calling from Rochester, so that afternoon, a Kodak truck pulled up in the driveway with 2 bottles of part "B". So, I'm sure if you call them, they will do the best for you. Not quite that good, but good enough to make you happy.

Leakage??? Maybe that's why I don't buy liquid chems from Adorama. I buy most EK color chems from Calumet - they are bit more pricey but I haven't received a leaker yet. Better yet, I discovered a local store that still has a few E-6 customers and sells the kits at the same price as Adorama. They just don't have it out on the shelf, you have to ask for it.

Yes, good point. I took it that the leakage was in anything but developer. If any component of the developers leaks, you have lost the kit.

PE, the last time I got the leakage from ADO, yea I lost some volume at the end of the mix, but not too much.
In the future, maybe I will seek out some local shop that has it in inventory. But that's part of the problem around Denver...so many shops have gone D! The last time I asked about Ilfochrome, they went huh?

If you lost concentrate from either developer, then the kit is KAPUT IMHO!

The loss of any of the reversal bath makes the packing material somewhat hazardous, and makes the kit iffy.
