The ground glass/fresnel lens on my Chamonix 045n-2 seems to be showing signs of separating. It's still usable, but showing a milkiness especially when viewed at an angle. Photo attached. Is this common? Is it possible to fix, or should I just replace it?
Be careful washing it. They're easily ruined by damaging the ridges on the back side of the fresnel from scrubbing or mis handling. Don't ask me how I know :{
It's difficult to tell from your photo, but yes, that looks like delamination on the fresnel.
It turns out to have been a bit of moisture between the fresnel and the ground glass. It was the moisture that was holding the two together, which is why I thought they were glued. After separating them gently, a quick rinse with distilled water and a gentle wipe was all it took to make it all new again.
