Fresh M.I.L.K. competition results

Months ago I entered a photography competition, which I rarely do. This one is different, though, and though the scope of it is massive (the original competition ten years ago received 40,000 entries!) I decided I'd like to take part. That's primarily because the grand prize winner will be selected by Elliott Erwitt.

I'm pleased to say that I received notice this morning that my image was selected as one of the 150 general winners and will be part of the final judging this week by Mr. Erwitt. I will be included in the resulting book coming out this fall, and I must say the prize money will come in handy!

Thanks, Jeanette! I have to say, having a 1 in 150 chance of winning the $50,000 grand prize has made my busy day a bit more bearable. Really, though, I'm just happy to know that Elliott Erwitt will HAVE to look at my work. LOL.

Just wanted to give an update:

The complete list of winners and grand prize winner were announced today. While I didn't win, I did have my image chosen of one of the four on the front cover, and that's quite a surprise!

I have to say that the winner's gallery is truly incredible, with some amazing images. The winning image is wonderful. The 150 images included were selected out of over 35,000 from (I believe) 17 countries, and are well worth perusing on your coffee break.

it's interesting that the grand prize winning 'graph was particularly lighthearted and humorous...a lot like Mr. Erwitt's work (there's even "wit" in his name for heaven's sake! ). I can't imagine a more difficult challenge than to pick one overall "best" image. Congratulations, again, to you, Cheryl for achieving the distinction of being a finalist and member of the cover quartet!
