Splitting up a new can this weekend. It will likely be a while before I split another can, so get this while it lasts!

Current inventory as of 03/04/22 I have the following remaining:
- 2x 50' Shipped in the US: $62 (each 50' length)

I use a specially built rig for measuring my film out; this method makes for extremely accurate cuts.

Aside from the film, can you show us the rig?

Nope, Its proprietary  I initially built it for accuracy. I wanted to measure out 120 roll film length (~850mm) of 500T for use in my MF cameras. I just expanded its use case for helping folks get some BWXX in their hands.

And I sit there in the dark like a caveman winding the stuff down by hand. I know it fits when it'll juuust fit into a bulk loader.

Get a motion picture film rewind or a pair of rewinds and mount them on a small board. Core adapters for 35mm 2 inch cores are available. With a homemade height gauge, you can quickly wind down what you need for your bulk loader. A split-reel would also help, but it's not totally required.

If you need more references, PM me and I'll get back to you.

I can build you a mechanical reel to reel similar to what kino is describing. Its not as accurate but should suit your needs.

It only needs to be accurate if you're reselling the broken-down rolls; otherwise, it just needs to reliably fit in the bulk loader.

BTW, when my money situation gets a little healthier, I'd be interested in a roll-down like this from Vision3, either 250D or 500T.

As Donald says. I don't need accuracy as long as it fits in my bulk loaders. I could really use something for 70mm too.

What exactly are you looking for? I have some 250D, and might be able to sell you some pre-rolled cassettes for super cheap.

It's a lot easier to get short ends or rerolled film like this than it is to find 400 foot, never mind 1000 foot daylight loaders...

I'm kind of broke at the moment; it'll probably a few months before I can buy film and another loader -- and I'd rather have a loader full than a few cassettes.

Finding a 400 ft or 1000 ft loader isn’t the problem, they come up on google a s the first result. The problem is that they are expensive!

Yep. I've seen files to 3D print a 400 foot one, but it's that little bit too big for my Ender 3.

400 feet is $900
At $4.50 a roll of Vision you probably will save $15 a roll in the future prices.
60 films and you are good.

I've printed that a 400>100' spooler and my printer is smaller than the ender. You print it in parts- and it works well.

Yep, that 400 => 100 is probably what I'll wind up with. That requires a counter as big as my darkroom counter, however, but without the junk (old spools, discarded film bits, tanks with film waiting for developing, etc.) that tends to accumulate there.

Oh, I know that 35mm movie film is cheap. And it’s much less than $900, anyway. Iirc 400 ft of 250D is $320 for new stock, and 400 ft of E100 is $520. Much cheaper than pre-packed film.

Short ends are even cheaper, and I plan on stocking up soon when my guy gets stuff in.

I was talking about the loader, at $1,300 USD.
