Freestyle Legacy Pro 100 = Acros 100?

Did anybody ever come to a conclusion about whether FS's new Legacy Pro 100 is Acros 100 or Neopan SS? I ask because I absolutely love Acros 100 in 120 format, but I'm hoping I could get some in 35mm at the super cheap FS prices to try out...
 
We had a (there was a url link here which no longer exists), and most people seem to be leaning towards Acros. We'll likely know when we get the development data in a week or two, the film's scheduled to be available from the 20th I think.
 
Yeah, we're all going to have to buy some, load up the cameras and go out and shoot globs of it. We'll then have to go into our darkrooms, dev it and then make prints. I can't think of a bigger waste of my day! :wink:
 
There is a mile of difference between Neopan SS and Neopan Acros, as far as granularity goes. Neopan SS has much more grain. Two rolls tested would tell you immediately.

Some have concluded that it's Acros in other threads. However it hasn't shipped yet and there are no development times, so the hard evidence is spotty. :smile:

Actually I think that Neopan SS is so rare and unknown in the US that people don't know it's a possible candidate for the Legacy film, so that and a strong desire for inexpensive Acros are at play.

One good test is that Acros has great reciprocity. Exposures out to 2 minutes need no adjustment. This would be a good test as well.
 
Needless to say, I'm really hoping it's Acros. I'm tired of paying $5/roll for my favorite films.
 
The developing times have been posted already at the Freestyle site. The dev times for both films in D76 1:1 are the same as acros and neopan 400.

Must have been posted today. I checked before I posted this morning. Here's a readable comparison. No times are posted for Neopan SS on the Freestyle chart.

I like Neopan 400. When I run out of the APX 400 and Arista Premium that I've stockpiled in my freezer (because I thought the end of the film world was near) I'll grab some legacy 400.
 
Very nice!!! A half price Acros is always welcome!
 
Any idea if they'll push these in 120 format too? If so, I'll be in heaven with the disguised Neopan 400.

you and me both! neopan 400 is my primary 400 speed film and i shoot mostly medium format. I'd like to see it available in a variety of sizes in much the same way Arista.edu Ultra is but we'll just have to see.

For now I'll just be happy I can get film of any size at such a discount.

On Foto Riegler web site Dead Link Removed we can see that FUJI NEOPAN 100 ACROSS = LEGACY PRO 100 and FUJI NEOPAN 400 = LEGACY PRO 400. Is it really thrue ? In case YES, why FUJI sells own famous films under different names and lower prices ! Maybe, FUJI sells rest stocks ?! Does it mean that production of that films in future are questionable ?

No. Fuji sells film stock to another company at a cheaper price because Fuji doesn't have to pay to package and distribute that film. Freestyle uses a cheaper packaging and distributing model than Fuji, and can also afford to sell the film at a cheaper price.

Same thing happens with Kodak (Arista Premium) and Foma (Arista EDU.Ultra).
 
Very reasonable answer. The most important thing is that we have high quality b&w films. Package with famous brand is not important.

I am a beginner in film developing. I picked up a roll of legacy pro 100 but I haven't used it because I couldn't find a developing time for Marathon 9:1 (which my school uses) Is there a way to find out? obviously all the guide lines I found just had '-' .
 
This is why I love Freestyle so much. Along with the Arista Premium films it's nice to have choices with films when one is on a budget (and really, aren't most of us these days?) along with all the other traditional items they stock. Definitely one of the best reasons to live in LA is because one can walk into their store. I do at least once a week it seems. Now then one quick question - I seem to recall the 100 Across is a T-grained film. True?
 
It's a modern technology grained film. It may not be tabular grain exactly, but it's definitely not traditional (SS100).
 
Acros/LegacyPro is not a T-grained film in the same sense that T-Max is, but it does look a lot like one. Very tight grain, very sharp, and a good tonal range. Definitely not in the Plus-X or FP4 vein.
