Just letting you So Cal'rs know of a place for exhibiting in So Cal, Fontana to be exact.

Not exactly a hub for the arts, but it's a plce to hang and adds to your resume. For no commission, it's a no brainer for me.

Fontana is a smallish community in the Inland Empire, east of Ontario and west of San Bernardino. They have been very proactive for the arts the last couple years, and recently took over a restored train depot and have called it the Art Depot.

Currently I have 15 images hung there, and they take zero commission and encourage visitors to take your bus card or handout-whatever you have. They do a local press release but the web info for their city is lagging..

They will handle sales on premises if you take out a $65 City business license, or just let them know perspective buyers should contact you via handout info.

They are open Tuesday-Saturday with a weekly Thursday summer concert series held outside the depot with attendance roughly 300 souls.

Saturday they host art classes designed by various artists, mostly for kids but some are catered to adults. I'm not sure of attendance for this.

Monthly I was told they get about 300-400 visitors on average.

You also have to sign a release of liability form but I was assured someone is always in the room and great care is taken to safeguard your work.

ALSO-at their city hall they have two facing walls in lobby where one might hang 5-6 16x30 size framed images on each side. For this, it is a three month showing and they pay a stipend of $500 to each artist. According to the person in charge, everyone that has displayed there has sold a piece. Not an ideal setting, but there is track lighting and the stipend pays for mount/mat/frame materials for about ten pieces. They are currently booked through January there.

I'll add some photos later as I'm going down for tonight's concert to see what's up. I left folded handout with thumbnails of images and prices, along with business cards.
