I was originally intending to have the agitation completely customisable, although at the time I was writing that part I was having a blank moment with the math, I will try to get my head around it and work out how to write it so that you can chose the agitation as seconds per minutes/seconds.

If you add personal data to the database the 3rd column with the time in minutes isn't actually used, it's only been left in place for human readable reference. Also if you're adding a film/developer combination for a film that hasn't already been included don't forget to add the film name to the filmdb.csv file too.

The film combobox simply loads the list form filmdb.csv, then the developer combobox cross-references the chosen film with the masterdb.csv for matching films, the reason I have done it like this is to cut out duplicates from the film combobox.

My plans are to have the home screen similar as it is now but with additional options like so:
Select B&W film from DB, Standard C-41, User defined development, create/edit user defined processes

The B&W film from DB would pretty much be as it is now, the standard C-41 would then offer 2 options (one for bleach & fix, one for Blix) the user defined development would load *.user.csv and the create/edit user defined option would allow users to create new regimes with the desired number of processes with custom names for each part, maybe even an agitation regime specifically for that film/developer combo.

On the other hand I'm glad that it's being used as well as having its faults or missing features noted.

Thanks for the additional information Jim.

All of your planned development sounds very useful to me.

I already figured out the relationship between the film and development databases and successfully entered a combination of my own.

The reason I mentioned a green dimmable display for android is for film in trays. Green light is used for development by inspection (although only a few seconds at a time after about halfway through development). I don't know about writing for android, but for this purpose a touch-screen toggle of the display backlight would be nice.

Hi everyone,

I hope it's not off topic (let me know if I should delete this) but I wanted to mention a small free iOS app I made along similar lines (learning how to make an app). It's an app where you store your own recipes. You can also import directly from filmdev.org, but there is no connection to MDC. I wrote this to learn how to make an app when I couldn't find anything free out there!

I have a new version in the works with voice control (so you don't have to touch the screen) and if anyone is interested to test the new version let me know.

Best,

Todd

Hi Todd, I don't mind you adding your app to this thread. Unfortunately though the only apples I own are the edible kind so I wouldn't be able to check it out, but I'm sure there are a few apple users on here.

thanks for sharing.

Sorry I've only just got round to having a quick look.
So:
32-bit Linux implementation runs fine
Couple of design issues that I tripped over:
1. That damn click! (yes, I can replace click.wav, I know )
2. Once the timer is started there's no cancelling it short of closing the application
3. No "close this window" button in "set default options". Yes I can close the window but a "back" button would be neater.
4. I guess "visit the dev timer website" button is supposed to launch default browser? It doesn't do anything at all on mine, but that might be a quirk of Puppy Linux

Overall I like the simple plain interface, but I'm not inclined to use it now I've tested it: the Android timer I already use (mentioned one of my posts) does a little more and of course I can keep it in my pocket. I'm not inclined to have a computer (even netbook sized) in my darkroom, & I wouldn't have anywhere to put it safely anyway!

be interested to see how it develops as you iterate and refine though.
