Given to me by a bud who plays in a band, it's a brassed FE with the Nikon MD-12 winder, Tamron BBAR 80-210 f3.8, Quantaray 28 2.8 and Nikkor 50 1.8, Cokin A system and bag, and to top it off it had an unexposed roll of Velvia 50 in it, my favorite E6 film.

I had always wanted a black-body Nikon with brassing, something that shows its age yet functions perfectly. He said the meter doesn't work, and after a battery replacement, seal replacement and fresh batteries in the winder all is well. I could easily turn it around for a good lick but I'll keep it, just when I thought I could get out of 135. Lol

Yeah, gotta keep it.
Sometimes 135 format is just right, and it's nice to have a setup as part of your tool kit just in case.

Wow, this story sounds familiar. A couple of years ago a guy who plays in a band gave me a chrome FE that was his Dads. I kept it and it is one of my favorite cameras to shoot with.

Only had one complaint so far (and it was a one-time learning lesson for me). I left the MD-11 power switch on for an extended duration and it depleated both the MD and the FE batteries.

I'm with LX...Yeah, gotta keep it.

p.s. The FE given to me had a roll of some kind of C-41 film in it, which I re-rolled and gave to my long-haired friend. He had it processed and it was some pics his Dad took of their family many years ago. We both benefited from the 'transaction"... I got a great camera to use, he got rid of some "junk" he didn't have storage space for AND got a few memories back.

A Nikon FE for free?

I'll take it. How much is the shipping?

You missed the OP's gloating point. Apparently you have to be some sort of groupie to get a free FE.

I am an avowed equal opportunity receiver of any free cameras of any format film.

Give me your address I send you all the carcasses left over from parts bodies.:D

I'm actually in need of a door hinge, the part that screws to the body, broke this one on the first film load. Go figure, lol.

Few questions

Can I stop-down meter and shoot my pre-Ai glass?

What does the two-pin connector on the front of the md-12 do?

I think for the pre-AI lens all you need to do is make sure the Ai tab is flipped up. There is a small button that unlocks the tab.

The two-pin is for an electric release.

For pre-AI lenses you need to flip up the tab as mentioned, just press the button next to it and push it up out of the way. Then all you have to do is press the DOF preview lever to take your reading (its the small lever on the right side of the lens mount).
