Is there a imposed positioning due to machining of the transport mechanism? Or is there a calibration feature?

But I'm most pleased when the frame line falls exactly between two sprockets, so when you cut there are not two forks sticking out. I imagine a standard specifies that.

(What in practice means that the perforations have to be symmetrically positioned around the frame within the camera.) I do not know about the standardized tolerances.
