My good pal Josh and I have been working on a photography website.

It is called Fraction Magazine.

We will be showcasing emerging artists alongside the work of some
very established photographers.

The plan is to release a new "issue" every 2 months and we already have
the next 3 issues planned.

The first issue features the photographic work of:
Lawrence Getubig
Mark Geil
David Bram
Karen Kuehn

And a gallery review by Mary Goodwin.

We will also have a blog for news and website info.
Please let me know what you all think.

David...I like it, but am wondering about the use of Flash, although it is elegantly done and unobtrusive. Just a few things you may have contemplated already:

Flash sites, as I'm sure you know, are not searchable.

Also, the right hand menu is off-the-screen on smaller monitors. There is no "resizing to monitor" size that automatically happens when using web-standards like XHTML and CSS.

Also, the cursor doesn't change when hovering over links, another web-standard.

Best of luck...I look forward to checking in often. Congratulations!

I just get a message telling me I need flash player plugin, even though I already have it.

Ok, panic over its working now. Don't know why it didn't work earlier!

Nice site. I will definitely visit it again.

It looks good and works well on Opera.

I think it's good - I like the fact there's about the right amount of stuff to look at - varied but easily viewable in one sitting. I enjoyed the photography - Karen Kuehn's work (I've never seen any of her work before) is exceptional - thanks.

I think we have most bugs worked out at this point.

We also have a few confirmations from some very important photogs.

I will go public as soon as I can.

I like it, although I must say that all the images I looked at were somewhat pixellated. A bit rough on the edges. Might need to be at higher resolution.

Hi David - I looked at a few shots from each gallery & they were all like that. I use a 12" Apple laptop. The photos in the APUG gallery all look fine to me as do most sites I visit. But I suppose you'd have to hear the same thing from other people before you need to worry about it.

I found the magazine elegant, neat. I saw it in two diferent Apple monitors, 15" and 21" HD, at full resolution, and some of the images in the Karen Kuehn look slightly pixelated. I'll look forward for more issues. David, great job.

From another small monitor user, I get the same thing (quality Very High). It looks to me like it may be aliasing - are you resizing the images for lower (1024x768) resolution monitors?

Otherwise it looks really good!
