FPP Slooooooow films. Anyone tried?

As I slowly explore the world of the 35mm format again, I'm intrigued by some of the slower speed options out there. I'm not talking ISO 100 or even ISO 50, but things like ISO 1.6!

These are among the 35mm offerings of the Film Photography Project, and I can see where they could be useful on the limited shutter speed range of my old equipment, allowing me the ability to shoot f/2.8 at 1/500 in full sun for example, or even to do some bulb exposures stopped down in moderate overcast.

I realize most of these are duplicating type films that aren't generally intended for camera use, but it's great to see them available. Has anyone experimented with these?

When I first started photography, iso 12, 25, and 32 were all common. I still have a stock pile of Efke and Adox 25 in 120 and 4x5.

Not there's but I shoot some of these very slow emulsions. Its a lot of fun! The FPP tests everything, i just wish they rolled more exposures. It's usually rare stuff though.

Typos made on a tiny phone...

I shoot ISO 25 Efke in my 4x5 so I can use my pre-Civil War Petzvals in daylight. I need exposure times of about one second because I use my hand as a "shutter." Wish I could find some ISO 10 film.

Weren't they the ones who did an ASA 1 B&W film a little while ago?

Why just don't use ND filters with iso 25 films?

True that!
I use a 3.0 ND(ten stops) so I can use HP5 and a lens cap with a shutterless lens I like on my 8x10. It made sense to me, I can process just the one type of film but also use that lens.

Price mainly, but also for the fun of trying something new to see how the results look. A good ND filter runs in the $70 range to bring Velvia 50 down to ISO 6. A roll of these films is about $6. I dont expect to do this sort of photography often enough to justify the investment in the filter.

If you really want it, go to B&H and look up Adox CMS 20 ll.Various ISO's down to 6 and lower listed depending on development.
