Hi all,

I haven't seen much about this film out there yet, so I thought I'd share my first test sheet here for your perusal. Don't ask me for my own opinion beyond "It's better than the 43-year-old Tri-X I've been using," since I don't really know what I'm talking about! At least you can check out the grain for yourselves. This was camera-scanned and stitched together to come out around 3100dpi originally and 2000dpi in the Flickr version. The center region is on the soft side, either due to film flatness issues or slightly off-target focusing (I know that the ground glass on the camera I'm using is a smidge deeper than the standard film plane), but there are some decently sharp areas from which you might glean whatever you might glean from such things. Enjoy!

Nice shot, very pleasant tonal scale and virtually grain-free at this resolution. Shadows might be a bit weak, but it's hard to tell without further information.

For evaluation of things like grain etc, some crops of a higher resolution version would be more useful than the 2000dpi full image. Which looks really nice, as said. In terms of grain, not much is apparent, so evidently that already says something. But I'm sure some people would want to inspect whatever is there in the digital file to inspect.

It may also help to know how this was handled; how you metered and exposed the scene and how you developed the film. All these parameters influence tonal rendering and grain structure to a greater or lesser extent.

It's rebadged Fomapan 400

Is it definitely? If so, at least it’s substantially cheaper, at least than the Arista version. And no purple spots!

For the record, developing:
HC-110 Dil E, around 9:15 at 21.7c. In a Stearman tank with 20 inversions to start and 5 per minute afterward.

Comparing the developing times between, they're the same. The prices for the large format FPP is what three me off a bit, FPP most likely made a deal with Foma for a slighly modified version of it (only thing I could think of).
