Is anyone using this dilution of pyrocat with fp4+? I've been using it with pl100 for VC silver and really like it, so was wondering how it might work with different films. (I love efke but it's kind of disastrous on long road trips with the soft emulsion and all, so was looking for an alternate to travel with.) Can't seem to find out much about it except at the 1:1:100 strength, which has always been sort of thin for pl 100 and how I rate it. Incidentally, any starting points for speed and time (sheet film in trays) much appreciated too.

I use this combination all the time. Using the partial stand method (i.e. 60 sec initial agitation then 2 inversions every 3 minutes) I develop FP4+ for 10 Minutes @ 70 Degrees. I rate the film at around 80. This gives me a very nice and dense negative. This is for silver printing on variable contrast papers and a diffusion enlarger with a color head. Hope this helps.

colin,

I use this all the time and I use 8.5 min at 68F for fp4 shot at ei 64. I like my results too. I use a condenser enlarger so I would go with Johns 10 mins.

good luck,

Thanks guys, exactly what I was looking for.

I use this also for my 120 film & 8x10 tray. 25 min. at 68-70 F, no agitation.

Well I'd like to take this opportunity to throw rose petals at Sandy King's feet. Finally got around to testing this combination and it's stunning. Many thanks Sandy for such a great developer. Magnificent!
