Fp4 @ 1600

I exposed a roll of Fp4 @ 1600. Would anyone happen to know a good developing time for it in Xtol stock. Digital truth has a time listed for 1000 for 14 minutes.

Should I just develop for that time, or am I simply wasting your time as well as mine with this question because of such a drastic push?

Assuming EI 100, that is a four stop underexposure. Everything in your shots that would have been a midtone is now a very dark grey. Everything that would have been a high tone is now around a middle grey. Everything that would have been a low tone is now totally black. What pushing will do is allow you to increase the brightness of things that fell in the high mid range and the high range.

Might as well push it to see if you get some interesting graphic results, but don't expect anything resembling a "normal" picture. Why not try a really really long time and see what happens. Try super hot developer. Try making a martini. The pix are screwed anyhow, so might as well try to make something interesting out of it. Might be some fun pix!

I don't know if this is sound advice, but I once underexposed some negs with FP4+ and decided to develop for an hour. I did the normal process for 10 minutes and then occasional agitation for about an hour. The negs (of some gray rocks) came out with good contrast/density, but I don't think I ever printed any of them.

ermm interesting to know why anybody would use FP4 at 1600 asa. Was it an important low light shot and all you had was FP4?

Accidently?

Add about 25% for every stop. so for four stops that would be 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.25 = 2.44 x the normal ISO 125 time for your developer. If it's 14 minutes for EI 1000 then about 16 minutes should do it.

I think though, I would also be inclined to try the 1 hour minimum (or no)agitation method.
