I'm on the hunt for a DeVere 504 master negative carrier. I had ordered one through KHB, but there was an issue with the order and it wasn't in stock after all. This would be for the later chassis that has the built in masking blades:

Hoping someone here might have one or know where else I could source one. Thanks in advance.

Bump... still on the hunt.

I got the master negative carrier and hated it. I found other solutions. I like the DeVere enlarger but the way the negative carrier works is just plain goofy.

I'd try Odyssey Sales/ Devere Secondhand Darkroom over here & see what they'd charge for one - not going to be cheap.

Just curious, in case the OP's been able to find how much is it from Odyssey/Devere? I've not been able to get through to them...

Thanks

I would love to hear any other solutions you have come up with. I'm more than happy to use a work around.

I checked SHD, but they didn't have any listed on their site and my emails went unanswered

I wasn't aware of Odyssey. Just sent them an email. Thank you for the tip. Fingers crossed

Odyssey came to the rescue! While they didn't have the newer holder for the masking chassis, they did have the masking holder and the longer pins for using that holder in the newer chassis. Total shipped to US was 100GBP.

Glad to hear that they were able to help!

Me too...lol I didn't realize how hard it was going to be to track down the parts I needed, especially the neg carrier! Now I just need to finish building the bench for it and it'll be time to start printing some 4x5

I’ve used the DeVere carrier in my 5108 for years and have never had a problem with it. Just maybe the problem isn’t with the carrier.

No, the issue being outlined is that the 5108's carrier top has enough mass to work fine with the nylon leaf spring hinges, but the much lower mass of the MKII 504 carrier top makes it spring back when people are trying to load it. The MKI 504 carrier is much thicker & has regular hinges, but if it was translated to the 5108, the resultant carrier would probably weigh something closing in on 10 lbs.
