Foto-hobby24.eu's re-mounted lenses - experiences?

So this guy has an interesting hobby, taking all number of old lenses and remounting them in different focussing mounts, mostly old Leica Screwmounts.
There's a lot of different ones, some of the Kinoptic ones have sold for 4 figures, although there's been some Foca and Som Berthiot sold for just over $100.

I don't suppose anyone around here has had a chance to try one, or heard from someone who has?
I've no reason to doubt that the rangefinders would line up as s/he claims, there looks to be old mounts from old summarons/elmars so finding one that's near enough for the narrow apertures wouldn't be that hard.
I'm wondering about the other aspects like image quality and rendering, not to mention coverage (as a lot seem to be old cine-lenses), and there's not much info out there.

Obviously if I had $3k I'd rather have a brand new Asph/Apo Leica, but for $100 I'm wondering if they're any better than a collapsible summar(on) or Ukranian Jupiter etc? Or should these just be put in the 'historical/geeky oddity' bin, and let the collectors/GASsers have at them?

If you find good sample of jupiter 8 (50mm/f2) - you will get superb image quality. I had one, sold it when I got summicron, but it was really excellent lens.

Those unusual lenses are for those who wants to experiment and who like to have unusual lenses and play with them. I am one of those guys btw .

Interesting guy the Kinoptik your link leads to is a cine lens and doesn't fully cover the 24x36 frame according to Kinoptik at least (image diameter 30mm). I would love to own a set of Kinoptik Apochromats in M39 they are some of the most underrated cine lenses out there.
Cine lenses like the Apochromat from Kinoptik wipe the floor with most lenses designed for still use of the same era that includes Leica lenses. Modern Apo Leicas will best a 40year old single coated Kinoptik the modern version of the Kinoptik on the other hand will probably kill the Leica.
A modern cine lens like a Master or Ultra prime will kill even the best modern Leica still lens.
As you said the drawback of most cine lenses is the coverage they are designed for less than halfframe coverage.

That's interesting, I've thought of doing the same thing.
There's one problem though, the lens in the link appears to be a 40mm lens in an unaltered mount for a collapsible Elmar, which means it won't couple properly with the Leica rangefinder. A conversion like this needs to take into account the focal length of the lens originally in the mount, a 40mm lens stuck in a mount designed for a 50mm (or more precisely a 51.6mm lens) will focus properly at one distance only according to the RF it is coupled to.

Yeah, it was definitely the 40mm that I was also thinking about the mount and RF, maybe s/he also has the knowledge/tools to lathe a new screw to match a 40mm length? (and, well, it's not like I need a 40mm, my 1.4 CV Nokton will kill everything else in speed and almost everything in IQ so I'm not bothering to look).
The rest seem to be 35s and 50s, last night there was a Berthiot 50 and Xenagon 35 that went for either side of $100 (plus some Astro Berlins for the expensive side of $500). Those ridiculous-priced Kinoptics, even if they are as good as an APO/Asph leica definitely aren't worth the same price if they're only 1/2 frame, so they probably are collector-fodder (unless there's some m4/3 filmers who love them).

Darko, I'm also one of those guys, unfortunately. Devved my first roll using a cheap-as-all-hell Industar 50/2.8, before I'd even scanned it to look how well it worked I got a decent deal on a Jupiter 50/2 (that hasn't arrived yet). Too bad I blew my monthly GAS budget on an L608 lightmeter yesterday or I might have chucked a bid on one of them. Maybe next month I'll see how cheap one of those Foca/Berthiot ones goes for, s/he seems to be putting new ones up all the time.
