I am doing tests on my Tech Pan and 3414 stock (both in 4x5). I used Pyrocat-HD without problems, although had to guess at times. Iirc I used 12 minutes, normalish agitations. Now I am testing out Photographer's Formulary TD-3 as it claims to be made for Tech Pan. I'd like to settle on a routine and move on.

First go 'round I mixed some working solution (of the TD-3) and it turned reddish magenta instantly. Negs came out fine. Second batch a day later, when I mixed the two stocks, it was almost completely clear. The negs came out with only the slightest imagery and the rest very opaque and looking almost undeveloped. Of course I could have screwed up something like temps or the captures but I don't think so. I shot another 6 frames last night and want to develop them now but I just mixed the working solution and it's clear again.

Anyone remember if the working TD-3 is supposed to be clear or colored? I don't want to waste a bunch of 4x5 TP! I'm thinking I better use my Pyro until I get this sorted... In the meantime, anyone remember a semi stand Pyro recipe for Tech Pan?
Many thanks in advance for any help...
Kevin

Edit: I just threw out my stock solutions and made new batches, very carefully, with distilled water. Made a working solution anew, and it's clear. Argh!
