Hello, I'm divesting myself of a number of TLRs and the second to go is an impeccable Yashica-Mat 124. The taking lens is a Yashinon 80/3.5 4 element Tessar type. The viewing lens of the same type is a f3.2. The lenses use a Bay 1 mount which is compatible with a Bay 1 Rollie accessories (filters, close-up adapters, hoods). Any thing with a bay 1 will mount on the 124.

The viewing hood has 3x focusing loupe.

I put a roll of Tri-X through the camera last week and everything functions as it should. Frame spacing is correct. Speeds are right on. The lenses are clean and free of any blemishes.

The lens cap is generic. There is a soft shutter release. The camera case is beat up but it does the job of protecting the camera.

Just to be clear, that is NOT a 124. It is a simple Yashica-Mat. The 124 has the option for 220 film (12 or 24 exposures- 12/24/- 124) and a meter.

Given that 220 film is almost gone and that the meter is more trouble than it is worth in most cases (e.g. mercury battery issue), this camera is a better option all in all. Appears to be in great shape, and that is a great price. If someone doesn't get this soon, I'll probably break down and give it a new home.

from what I have been told and personally researched, the 124 with 120/220 film capability and a meter is the 124G, of which I sold one this morning. I was always told that this is a 124, no meter and only 120 film capability. The 124G I sold still had a precise meter (measured against my Gossen, identical readings, and the battery is a 1.5 Mercury from my frozen stash that I use on my Nikon F's .

Was there ever a simple Yashica Mat??

Just checked Roger Cole's Flickr page and saw a 124 that had the meter eye on the left side.
My Mistake... so I'm selling a "Not aYashica-Mat 124" camera.

Well, If nobody wants it, I'll keep it. Preferred it to my Rollei which I sold because this one I found to be better.

The YashicaMat = 120 film only, no meter
YashicaMat 124 = 120/220 film with meter
YashicaMat 124G = 120/220 film with meter with gold plated electrical contacts ("G" for Gold)

The regular YashicaMat is a great camera. I bought one a while back (my first MF and TLR camera) and although I've only shot 5-6 rolls through it I really like using it. I'm tempted to buy this one as a backup.

The 124G has gold plated flash contacts thus the "G". It also has more black and less chrome and possibly a different wind mechanism than the 124 as the sound in winding is different.

I have an early one of this model. Very robust camera, dead-reliable, and allegdely better build quality than the 124-series. My favorite walk-around camera.
