[h=2]For Sale/ Beseler VXL Enlarger - Elevation Motor Assembly - $200 or Best Offer[/h]
Selling the elevation motor assembly from a Beseler VXL 4x5 enlarger
SOLD AS IS - Possible spare unit if you already have a VXL - READ THE FULL DESCRIPTION
Asking $200 plus shipping from NY - weight is about 10 pounds packed - will consider offers - Paypal OK
Motor is working and in good condition - BUT THE GEAR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR FIXED.
The gear is a nylon gear that is pressed onto an aluminum hub - under load the gear will spin on the hub. I contacted Beseler about a replacement, cost from them is $150 for a new gear. I think it could be fixed by adding a pin or set screw to keep the gear from spinning fairly easily. The nylon gear is the same $20 gear used on other Beseler enlargers like the 23C, someone with some machine shop experience could probably make a new gear/hub assembly.
I thought about fixing it, but my VXL has been converted to a custom 8x10 head which weighs more than the heaviest Beseler head, so I have installed a hand crank for elevating the head. I have a feeling that if a new gear/hub was installed it would also fail because of the weight of the head I am using. Yes I have a control unit and the focusing motor assembly and will be keeping them.
To use this you would need a Beseler control unit, or would need to make something that would substitute for a motor control.
