BRILLIANT! It's Norman McLaren meets David Hockney.

I think the term is "pixellation" for that kind of stop motion with actors (I think that's what McLaren used).

Very kewl! It is much more sophisticated than a short animated film I saw in the early '80s where a trip through a tunnel and around town was shown by a person placing a series of single photos on a square. As the sequence sped up the hands became quite jerky and then almost disappeared.
